Estelon Supplements A-Series Loudspeakers

Estelon has expanded its A-Series loudspeakers, initially launched with the award-winning AURA floorstander, with a matching standmount, a centre channel, and a slimline subwoofer.

Estelon’s remarkable AURA loudspeaker was reviewed on SoundStage! Australia (review here) and was subsequently the recipient of a Product Of The Year Award 2024 (see here).

Now, Estelon augments the A-Series with the AURELIA standmount, AURELIA Centre matching centre channel speaker, and the dedicated AURUS compact subwoofer. Estelon is celebrating its 15th anniversary in May 2025, which synchs-up with this year’s High End Munich, promising a host of festivities around AURELIA's debut at the show.

The AURELIA is an MTM (Mid-Tweeter-Mid) passive standmount configured as a 2-way sealed box design. The MTM array features a 25 mm Scan-Speak textile dome tweeter flanked by a pair of SB Acoustics renowned 132 mm Egyptian Papyrus fibre-filled paper cone mid-bass drivers. The AURELIA Centre replicates both the configuration and driver types in order to maintain consistent technical specifications and, sonically, a stable tonal palette across the bandwidth.

The cabinets are stiff constructions derived from Estelon’s “Thermoformed mineral-filled composite” which is a very stiff and non-resonant material. The AURELIA speakers can be optioned with a bespoke floor stand or a versatile desk, or shelf stand.

Frequency Response specifications are quoted as spanning from 70 Hz to 30 kHz (no parameters given), with the speakers having a sensitivity of 87dB at 2.83 Volts while the nominal impedance is said to be 4 ohms with a minimum of 3.7 ohms at 170 Hz. Power rating is 80 watts. The carefully designed crossover network features Kubala-Sosna interface cable from the network to the drivers.

The matching AURUS powered subwoofer incorporates a 300 mm (12 inch) long excursion driver featuring a three inch voice coil. The driver is mounted on the subwoofer’s left hand side panel. The high power woofer can handle 300 watts of continuous power. The main driver is mated to a matching passive radiator which is fitted to the opposing right hand side panel. Passive radiators can not only provide additional low-frequency output, but of course, tend to do so without reflex port chuffing.

The onboard amplification is via a 1200 watts (short term RMS) Class-D amplifier in “bridge connection for reduced distortion and increased power output”. Available connectivity includes a line level XLR and high level (speaker level with banana sockets) inputs. There are settings for an active analogue line level filter and passive high-level filter with bespoke profiles for supporting AURA and AURELIA speakers. The AURUS has been designed to integrate in close proximity to the main speakers while also catering to different placement for home theatre system configurations.

The AURUS subwoofer has a frequency response from 18 Hz to 45 Hz when matched to AURA and from 18 Hz to 75 Hz when teamed with AURELIA. Output level adjustment is +/-6dB for the active input and 0 or +3dB for the passive input. The AURUS’ cabinet employs the same Thermoformed mineral-filled composite as its stablemates.
