Shunyata Research Introduces X-Series AC Cables

Cable and power distribution specialist Shunyata Research has announced the launch of Alpha-X and Sigma-X AC power cables featuring a new patent-pending technology.

The new Reference Series AC power cables incorporate Shunyata Research’s most advanced design principles including a new patent-pending ‘TAPc’ (Transverse Axial Polarizer) technology. TAPc is applied on both the Reference Series Alpha-X (entry-point into the Reference Series) and the one-tier-up Sigma-X cables (one step below the ‘Omega’ flagship cables). The TAPc in the X cables includes a number of “force-multipliers” modules, which have been reduced in terms of size, therefore allowing better incorporation within the cable. TAPc is said to drop the noise floor while improving dynamics and overall “coherence”.

‘NR’ technology, now in its 3rd generation (Gen 3 NR), is the company’s best strategy to reduce AC power noise through the cable and is a result of Shunyata Research’s product developments for the medical imaging and professional recording fields. Gen 3 NR is applied on both Alpha-X and Sigma-X cables.

Shunyata Research’s KPIP v2 (Kinetic Phase Inversion Process) processor technology “permanently pre-conditions” cables (also used in the company’s power distribution products). KPIP v2 is said to reduce the run-in cycle while also enhancing sonic performance. Further, Shunyata Research’s patented QR/BB technology is described by the company to hold a “local reserve of energy, or Coulomb charge” which reduces the effect of the inductive reactance of the AC power line while eschewing any coils, transformers or capacitors. The ‌‌QR/BB “acts as an instantaneous energy reserve when placed in-line with an AC power supply.”

The new Shunyata Research Alpha-X and Sigma-X AC power cables will be available in Australia towards the end of 2024 as per Shunyata Research’s staggered global launch schedule.
