Michi Expands Line-Up With New Prestige Series

Michi’s product collection now expands to include the new Prestige Series, a more affordable range offering a full-featured integrated amplifier and CD player.

The new Prestige Series is the recipient of trickle-down technologies from Michi’s high-end Reference Series, in a more cost-effective package, with the company aiming to provide excellent performance, elegant styling, immaculate build quality, and a “refined user experience”.

The X430 integrated amplifier is a Class-A/B design capable of delivering 210 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 340 watts per channel into a 4 ohms load. Michi states the X430’s low noise circuitry features an in-house manufactured “oversized” toroidal transformer coupled to high current output stages, optimised signal paths and minimal distortion.

The X430 features an onboard digital-to-analogue converter employing the highly regarded ES9039Q2M Sabre DAC chip from ESS Technology. The digital engine supports three S/PDIF coaxial inputs, three optical inputs, USB-A and USB-C, and a HDMI ARC input. The USB input is capable of 32-bit/384 kHz PCM and DSD256, coaxial and optical inputs accept resolutions of up to 24-bit/192 kHz, while the HDMI input accepts 24-bit/48 kHz PCM. An RJ45 ethernet connects to the network. A grouping of 3.5 mm mini-jack sockets provide 12V remote triggers.

Three analogue RCA line inputs, a single balanced XLR input, a Moving Magnet (MM) phono stage input (RCA), two RCA subwoofer outputs, a Pre-Out, and two sets of loudspeaker binding posts allowing bi-wiring round out the signal socketry. The front panel sports a 6.5 mm output for the onboard headphone amplifier. High quality Bluetooth wireless streaming is available via aptX HD. The X430 is Roon Tested.

The X430’s front panel houses a large customisable full colour display which provides menu and functions access in addition to status data.

The Q430 is a fully balanced CD player featuring the acclaimed ES9028PRO Sabre DAC chip, also from ESS Technology. The ES9028PRO chip is an 8-channel device, with Michi splitting its implementation in a 4-channel per stereo output configuration. This is said to lower the noise floor in order to deliver “precise imaging, clarity and dynamic control”. The in-built DAC can handle resolutions at up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512.

The Q430 employs a high quality floating tray mechanism designed to reduce vibrational distortions and to maintain correct disc-spinning stability. The Q430’s power supply features multi-stage regulation in order to suppress noise and ripple. The front panel’s full-colour TFT display can render album cover artwork in addition to the unit’s various functions.

The Q430’s rear panel houses balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue outputs, an S/PDIF coaxial output, an RJ45 ethernet port, USB port for file storage device, and 12V remote trigger 3.5 mm in/out sockets.

The new Michi Prestige Series X430 Integrated Amplifier and Q430 CD Player will be available in Australia in late May 2026 via local importer Interdyn’s country-wide retailer network.
