First previewed at High End Munich 2025, the new Sabrina V loudspeaker amalgamates with its stablemates by incorporating Wilson Audio’s ‘V’ material while introducing the new H-Material and upgrading key design areas.
The new Sabrina V features a host of improvements, with the hero enhancement being the debut of H-Material on its front baffle. H-Material is a bespoke high-density composite with “organic and phenolic properties” engineered to be superbly rigid in order to control vibrational distortions, sharpen spatial imaging and lower the “acoustic noise floor”. In fact, H-Material is similar to the stiffest X-Material, yet its relative marginal flexibility makes it particularly suitable for the midrange frequencies. H-Material’s inherent characteristics are said to bring “music to life” while sounding clear and natural. Wilson Audio’s precision in milling its proprietary materials has allowed the Sabrina V cabinet styling to be subtly refined, making for a more elegant slimline aesthetic.
Also new for the Sabrina V, and inspired by the excellent Wilson Audio Acoustic Diode, is the incorporation of ‘V-MCD’ isolation technology. The new architecture optimises the coupling between Sabrina V’s X-Material bottom plate surface, strategically mating with the spike diode system via damping inserts. In fact, the thread size routed into Sabrina V’s bottom plate allows the upgrading of V-MCD to the superior Acoustic Diode technology as employed on Wilson Audio’s upmarket models.
Sabrina V sports updated drivers, now adopting the same 200 mm (8 inch) paper pulp woofer used in Sasha V and the new The WATT/Puppy loudspeakers. Also new for Sabrina V is Wilson Audio’s excellent AlNiCo QuadraMag (Aluminium, Nickel and Cobalt) 180 mm (7 inch) paper pulp composite midrange driver which has been adopted across the upper-tier speakers right up to the flagship Chronosonic XVX. The QuadraMag driver has been acclaimed for its natural tonality while its linear performance is associated with exceptional spatial dimensionality.
Sabrina V features Wilson Audio’s Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) 25 mm (1 inch) coated textile/silk dome tweeter first introduced in the Alexx V loudspeakers. The CSC tweeter is reputed to provide superb harmonic detail and convincing ambient reproduction.
Wilson Audio states the soul of Sabrina V is in its highly refined crossover network. Here, Wilson Audio craftspeople meticulously assemble the network’s wiring and various components in a point-to-point architecture, eschewing circuit boards which are thought to compress the sound, robbing it of natural dynamic expression. Wilson Audio produces its own capacitors after acquiring Reliable Capacitors (Rel-Cap), bringing its manufacturing capacities in-house. Sabrina V’s crossover network employs ultra-tolerance AudioCapX-WA capacitors which have been refined with a “copper end-spray” said to improve high frequency nuance and tonal accuracy. A new woofer capacitor improves overall integration making for a more coherent sound presentation.
In common with its upper level stablemates, the Sabrina V now features a rear access panel to the crossover’s resistors. Hand-adjustable thumbscrews make the exercise of changing resistors a simple task taking mere seconds. A precision machined aluminium frame adorns the panel and is enriched with a stylised ‘Sabrina V’ logo.
Sabrina V’s reflex port has also been redesigned with changes to its dimensions while the midrange slot vent’s geometry has also been revised. Wilson Audio states the re-engineering of the port and vent has resulted in deeper low frequencies and improved driver integration.
Wilson Audio’s specifications for Sabrina V state a frequency response spanning from 27 Hz to 24 kHz with +/- 3dB Room Average Response (RAR) parameters. Sensitivity is given as 87dB at 1W/1m/1kHz while system impedance is quoted as 4 ohms with a minimum point of 2.23 ohms at 121 Hz.
The new Wilson Audio Sabrina V is distributed by Advance Audio Australia and can soon be auditioned around the country via specialist audio dealers.
